Biking

Bike riders trek through the 10 mile long biking trail.

A complete 10.5 mile single track loop that circles the lake, offers a challenging and enjoyable experience for the rider. Bikes must travel in a counter-clockwise direction on the single track trail.

This is a challenging ride for the beginning mountain biker. Know your limitations and use caution.

Think SAFETY! Always wear a helmet and appropriate safety gear when riding. DO NOT race.

The trail has several items to note for the bike rider:

1. The direction of travel for bikers is COUNTER CLOCKWISE. The trail begins at the trail head sign south of the Big Oaks parking lot.

2. ALWAYS YIELD TO HORSE RIDERS. BE ALERT. The hiking/mountain bike trail intersects with the horse trail at two locations; slow down and use caution when approaching and crossing the horse trail.  There is also a short section of shared trail and the horse rider always has the right-of-way.  Stop your bike and allow them to pass.

3.  Due to limited site distance, please remember to share the trail and watch out for runners and hikers

4. The trail is CLOSED when the following conditions exist: muddy conditions from rainfall, high water levels and winter weather.  Please check under "Current Happenings" on this web-site for more information.

5. No riding after dark.

6. Ride at your own risk. The Big Blue River Conservancy District/Westwood Park is not responsible for injuries.
